Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has encouraged the people of the state and Nigerians to stay joined together, and peaceful, irrespective of party differences come 2019.
The Governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Charles Aniagwu in Asaba, in which he congratulated the people as they walked into the Year 2019.
He gave his advise to Nigerians to pray in 2019, stressing that praying for the solidarity and harmony in the state was the bedrock of meaningful development in any given society.
He expressed his hope that 2019 would be a year of more prominent and stronger Delta.
The statement read: “Given our success story in the last three and half years in office, I have no doubt that with a similar level of collaboration from the great people of Delta, our government will accomplish more in all aspects of governance.
“Our optimism is driven by the support we enjoy from our leaders, youths, the judiciary, the legislature, agencies of government, the civil service, my group of political representatives, both at the federal and the state levels and also multilateral donor agencies
“As one of the first states to sign the 2019 budget into law, our government was prepared for the provision of key infrastructure and task of governance which made us hit the ground running from day one.
“I should emphasize that the consistent early entry of our state budget has given me and for sure the state the advantage of early starters.
“This is in the appreciation for what Deltans anticipate from their government and in the development of solutions for meeting such desires.
He spoke to the people to admire the New Year with the same enthusiasm of a people with an ability to exceed expectations even in troublesome circumstances, adding, “Delta people have dependably been identified for their creativity.”
Okowa, on behalf of his family and the state government, wished the people of the state, more prosperous, a peaceful and a Stronger Delta in the year 2019.
